Heigl Will Return To Grey's Anatomy Next Season

It was reported earlier this week that T.R. Knight was not signing on for another season of Grey’s Anatomy, leaving fans to speculate over whether or not Katherine Heigl would also be gone when the show returns this fall. If the rumors are true, fans can expect more Izzie Stephens on Grey’s next season.

According to E! Online, their sources confirm that Heigl “will be back.” While there was no official word from Heigl or ABC’s reps on the subject of Heigl’s contract, it does look like Heigl will be among the cast for the sixth season of Grey’s.

Izzie’s story arc was left up in the air at the end of season five when her struggle with cancer took a turn for the worst. While it appears George, who was also mostly-dead at the end of the season finale won’t pull through, if Heigl’s on board for season six, it seems safe to say that Izzie will… unless she’s a ghost. Anyone familiar enough with the series knows that’s not entirely out of the question.
