Homeland Season 2 Finale Clips: Is There A Future For Carrie And Brody?

The promo for the season finale of Homeland suggests that something big is coming up as the second season draws to a close. The clips we have to show you from "The Choice" both focus on Carrie's relationship with Brody. Are these two kids going to get their happily ever after? Or is it maybe a bad idea for a CIA agent to be snuggling with a terrorist?

Spoilers if you aren't caught up on Homeland!

The first clip from "The Choice" shows Carrie and Brody curled up in front of a fire. And why shouldn't they be? Abu Nazir is dead. Brody's marriage is over. What else is left to do besides light a fire, drink some wine and dream about a future that doesn't involve terrorist plotting and other dangers…

It's like something out of a bizarre dream. In fact, the scene is so romantic, it's unsettling because you can almost forget what they've been through (together and separately). Call me overly cynical, but I just don't see this working out the way they seem to think it can. It's not that I don't believe there's a chance (I'm not convinced) that Brody is really ready and capable to move forward as a good person and put his associations with Abu Nazir behind him, but even if he does, given their personal issues, these two probably aren't the best match. Which is probably why I love this second clip, not only because Mandy Patinkin is amazing, but also because Saul is a crucial voice of reason, not only in Carrie's life but also for this series.

I think deep down Carrie knows he's right. She just hates that he's making her consider it. Mainly I love that Saul loves Carrie enough to be 100% honest with her. That may be the best possible thing he can do for her. Or it'll cause her to meltdown. We'll see.

What do you think? Can Carrie and Brody make it work? Or is this relationship destined for failure?

Homeland Season 2 wraps up this Sunday night at 10:00 p.m. ET on Showtime. Watch the promo for the episode here.
