How To Watch Gilmore Girls And Two More Great Shows That Just Started Streaming

Networks are still rolling out their new series, and we're still celebrating older ones here. Beyond the stellar choices we have for you this week, it's worth noting that Netflix picked up a bunch of series from Food Network, Travel Channel, and HGTV, among others. So you can check out episodes of Chopped, Anthony Bordain: No Reservations, Love It or List It, Ghost Adventures, Restaurant Impossible and many more. I'm getting hungry now, so it's time to head to Stars Hollow for some pie.

Gilmore Girls

Last month, Netflix announced that they'd acquired the streaming rights to all seven quip-heavy seasons of the beloved WB comedic drama Gilmore Girls, and I'm pretty sure millions of people have already put their binge-watching skills to the test. While relatively ignored by the awards community, Gilmore Girls has remained a fan-favorite due to the series' uncanny mix of heartfelt storylines, brainy pop culture references and the addictive dialogue between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as Lorelai and Rory, respectively. The show of course delved into the love lives of its central females (Dean! Luke!) and both of their relationships with Lorelai's more haughty parents Richard (Edward Hermann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop), but none of the school, work and friendship stories could ever outshine the relationship between the wordiest mother and daughter on TV.

Inside Amy Schumer

With Key & Peele and Inside Amy Schumer adding endless amounts of laughter to Comedy Central's schedule, it wouldn't be surprising if every other sketch comedy on TV went on hiatus to figure out how to get better. A lot of Schumer's humor (and that of the show's writers) stems from subverting gender stereotypes - including a hilarious take on girls playing video games - but such relatively high-minded material is often balanced by enjoyably shocking sketches about sex and bodily functions. This season, Amy goes to different kinds of therapy (one with supermodel Chrissy Teigen), has meltdowns both on TV and during a wedding speech, and also tries to have sex with a magician, which is trickier than one might expect. Get it? Trickier? The jokes on Inside Amy Schumer are better than that.

Peaky Blinders

Boardwalk Empire is coming to a close after its currently airing fifth season, so TV viewers need more widespread gangster-era epics, and the U.K. drama Peaky Blinders is just what the World War I doctor ordered. Created by Steven Knight (Locke), Peaky Blinders is based on the titular crew of the same name, a violent gang led by the deadly crime boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). Their biggest foe during the first season's six episodes is Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, played with expected intensity by Sam Neill. With a winning supporting cast and a set design that takes one right back into an area that few of us, if any, could have lived through, Peaky Blinders is an import that is much better received in its original format than through a misguided American remake. Season 2 just began this past week in the U.K.

His humble origin story with CinemaBlend began all the way back in the pre-streaming era, circa 2009, as a freelancing DVD reviewer and TV recapper.  Nick leapfrogged over to the small screen to cover more and more television news and interviews, eventually taking over the section for the current era and covering topics like Yellowstone, The Walking Dead and horror. Born in Louisiana and currently living in Texas — Who Dat Nation over America’s Team all day, all night — Nick spent several years in the hospitality industry, and also worked as a 911 operator.
