I Made A Huge Mistake In Waiting This Long To Watch Arrested Development

Watching Arrested Development in its entirety from series pilot to series finale has been on my To Do list for a while now. I started watching it last year and then got busy and never got around to finishing it. I’ve finally nearly completed my goal as I’m on the last disc of season three. Since I fell in love with the series about halfway through the first disc of season 1, I’m slowing down on my A.D marathon so I can savor what’s left of the series. Also, since we’re on the subject, I’ll just get this out of the way. To all of you who did watch it when it was on and said the show was brilliant, I apologize for not tuning in and in my own small way, contributing to series’ poor ratings.

Anyway, there’s been talk of an Arrested Development movie. E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos posted an update on her spoiler blog. The update on the A.D. movie? There’s really no update. Dos Santos got in touch with Jason Bateman to follow up on the comment he made to Keith Olberman about the big-screen version of the show being “in the works.” Bateman told Dos Santos that the status remains the same and that the movie is “in the process of being worked out and hopefully they figure out a way.”

Dos Santos added that her sources say there’s no script and that Arrested Development creator is busy with his new animated series Sit Down and Shut Up.

So as I said, no real update. Then what’s the point of this article other than to update you on the lack of update, you ask? I’m curious to know how many of you were watching the show from the beginning and how many jumped on the bandwagon later in the game. And lest you’re afraid you’ll look uncool for admitting you were a bandwagon jumper, the poll’s anonymous. All the same, I encourage any of you out there who missed the boat on the series when it originally aired to out yourself in our comments section.

Before we get to the poll, I just want to add one thing. If you haven’t watched the series yet, all three seasons are available on Hulu.com. Just know that this is definitely one of those shows you have to watch from the beginning in order to truly appreciate the humor. Before I started from the beginning of the series I’d seen one or two episodes and I didn’t really get why people loved it. So I recommend starting from the pilot and giving it a few episodes to grow on you. There’s a fine line between ridiculousness and brilliance and A.D. pretty much lives on that line.
