IFC's Portlandia Gets A Second Season

There’s good news if you’re a fan of Portlandia. IFC announced today that they’re giving the comedy series a second season. Season 2 will consist of ten episodes and is set to debut in January 2012

Created, written and starring Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) and Portland musician Carrie Brownstein, the comedy series is described as the creators’ “dreamy and absurd rendering of Portland, Oregan.”

“We’re thrilled with the success of Portlandia and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our viewers,” said Debbie DeMontreux, senior vice president, original programming, IFC. “Fred and Carrie’s humor is perfectly in line with the sensibility and comedic tone of IFC which makes this show such a great fit for us. This early renewal signifies that IFC’s alt comedy programming is indeed resonating with our audience.”

I’ll admit to not having seen Portlandia yet, but after checking out a few clips on IFC’s website, I’ve given TiVo the order to start collecting episodes for me. Here’s a great clip that should give you a better idea of the humor and subject matter of the series.

Portlandia currently airs on IFC on Friday at 10:30 p.m.
