There were reports today that American Idol judge Randy Jackson was set to stick with the series for Season 10. While Fox made no official announcement about that (yet), the network did announce today that Kara DioGuardi would not be returning to Idol for Season 10.
Fox’s report states that DioGuardi is “stepping down from her role as judge on American Idol," however it seems more likely that the network opted not to renew her contract. Rumors about replacement judges have been flying around all summer, including reports that have yet to be made official about Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. Whether she’s leaving of her own accord or she got canned, DioGuardi was gracious in the statement she made: “I felt like I won the lottery when I joined AMERICAN IDOL two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave IDOL. I am very proud to have been associated with AMERICAN IDOL – it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!” And, in related news, yesterday Fox announced the Los Angeles Audition information for Season 10. It is as follows: WHO: Men and women 15-28 years old as of July 17, 2010, who are eligible to work in the U.S. Some restrictions apply – please visit americanidol.com for specific information. |
