There’s a rumor going around that Jennie Garth might be jumping on board with the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff that’s being developed for The CW network. Apparently though, this is not the case.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garth backed out of the deal she had with CBS in which she would star in a new comedy called “My Best Friend’s Girl.” The Reporter also stated that Canadian actress Kristen Booth will be taking over the role. Following this news, a number of places started reporting rumors and speculation that Garth might be planning to return to her 90210 role as Kelly Taylor in the CW spinoff for the series. E!’s Kristin Dos Santos says this is not the case. Her sources at The CW say Garth hasn’t signed on for the spinoff and that, “CW sources tell me Garth will not be "seriously approached" about being cast on the series until the new script is in order and the concept is finalized.”
It was recently reported that Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas was stepping down as show runner for the 90210 spinoff. Dos Santos mentioned in her recent blog entry that Thomas will still be “very much involved” with the series.

Finally, a report that is not mere speculation. She quit the sitcom because her father passed away recently and she needs time to deal with it. She might or might not do the spinoff, but they haven't even developed a script, which I'm sure she would want to see before she signed on. Thanks for being a voice of reason.
She's the new Heather Locklear, and this would be a SMART move. The network should poney up if they want old fans to wach (ie: at least half the audience)
