Joan Cusack Joins William H. Macy In Showtime's Shameless

Lately I feel like Showtime couldn’t possibly get any better. Then I remember that on the horizon there’s a new series starring William H. Macy and I realize I might be wrong. As though Macy’s participation in the upcoming Showtime drama series Shameless weren’t enough to have us looking forward to the show’s premiere in January, Joan Cusack has been added to the cast.

Shameless is a one-hour drama series starring William H. Macy, that follows Frank Gallagher, a working class father of six who spends his time drinking while his kids raise themselves. More information on the series can be found here.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cusack will appear in all 12 episodes of the series, playing the role of “an agoraphobic Chicago housewife with a sexually active teenage daughter.” She’s not Frank’s wife but apparently she’ll have a “special relationship” with Macy’s character.

I adore Joan Cusack. Even if this role is more serious than it is comedic, I have no doubt that she’s up for the task.

Here she is below in Working Girl where she gives Tess some wise words on accepting reality.
