Joey Lauren Adams Pledges Alliegiance To United States Of Tara
She switched teams for Ben Affleck in Chasing Amy, then she switched right back. Now Joey Lauren Adams is continuing her love affair with complicated sexuality on Showtime’s United States of Tara.
Created by stripper-cum-screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno), the Showtime comedy follows the trials and tribulations of Toni Collette’s Tara, who suffers from multiple personality disorder. Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that former Kevin Smith muse Adams will join the second-season cast for at least three episodes as Pammy, an unlucky-in-love barmaid whose luck doesn’t look to get any better since she’s set to fall for “Buck,” one of Tara’s beer-swilling, crotch-scratching alternate personalities who just happens to be male. Which is still arguably a better catch than Ben Affleck. (Though he was the bomb in Phantoms, yo.)
United States of Tara is set to return to Showtime in early 2010.
