As usual, folks, if you read the books and already know what’s in the cards for our esteemed characters, we ask you to keep those spoilers to yourself.
Over at TV Blend, we’ve been pretty excited about the Season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones, which is set to hit HBO’s schedule next month. The Season 4 premiere won’t occur until April 6, but luckily, HBO has been really great about keeping the series fresh in the minds of fans. The network has already aired one special leading into Season 4 and this week, the subscription cable network announced a second special, “The Politics of Power: A Look Back at Season 3,” via the above brand new teaser.
The preview is a short one, spending a little bit of time with Daenarys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, Catelyn Stark and more as they explain the journeys of their characters during Season 3. The preview for the “A Look Back at Season 3” segment seems as if it will be fairly similar to the recent “Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing” segment, but while that one looked at where the characters will be going in Season 4, complete with a bit of spoiler-y footage, the new segment looks as if it will be more retrospective in nature.
I particularly like the moment when Jaime Lannister talks about his character development during Season 3. He spent a lot of time as a political prisoner during last season, and it’s changed him from as a person. It’s also nice to see Catelyn Stark bring up the big Season 3 moment from the episode “The Rains of Castamere.” Most of “The Politics of Power” looks as if it will be a big rehash of Season 3, so if you don’t want to tune in for the short endeavor, you can always relive last season on Blu-ray, DVD or Digital platforms.
If you are interested in catching “A Look Back at Season 3,” the segment will air on HBO on Tuesday, March 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET. In the meantime, you can catch the latest Season 4 trailer, the latest posters and plenty of stills, all leading up to the new season. Or, if you are in the mood for some video content, you can catch all of the “Foreshadowing” segment, below.
Season 4 of Game of Thrones premieres on Sunday, April 6 on HBO.
