NBC has put a lot of hype into upcoming medical pilot County, starring Parenthood’s Jason Ritter and produced by Parenthood’s Jason Katims. What NBC has not put as much hype into is its other medical pilot, Do No Harm a medical drama about a doctor battling with two personalities. However, with Smash’s Michael Mayer set to direct and David Schulner behind the writing of the pilot, it looks like Do No Harm is shaping up to be some serious competition for County.
Do No Harm will follow Dr. Jeffrey Kohn, a hospital neurosurgeon who on one hand is calm and brilliant at his job and on the other hand is volatile and willing to ruin the career he has built. Do No Harm attributes this to some Jekyll and Hyde-like personality switches. Now, Deadline is reporting the newest addition to the Do No Harm cast will be Law and Order’s Alana De La Garza, who will play a fellow doctor and possible romantic connection to Kohn, Lena Steck. With a Robert Louis Stevenson theme and the casting well underway, Do No Harm looks like it might be some serious competition for County. I suppose it is possible there is room next fall for two brand new medical dramas, but I’m betting one ends up winning out over the other. I’ve got my money on Jason Katims having his act together, but it is hard for me to want to bet against a premise as over-the-top as dual personalities. TV Blend will keep you posted about the battle of the medical dramas over at NBC. |
