Lifetime Cop Drama Against The Wall Is Slow Out The Gate, Could Still Recover

Lifetime’s new drama Against the Wall premiered Sunday night. You should know this if you happened upon Lifetime at all in the past several weeks. You should especially know this if you caught any of the Project Runway marathons running continuously until its Season 9 premiere. Lifetime has been running advertisements for Against the Wall like they’ve got nothing else going for them, which is only like 20% true.

If you’re having trouble getting a mental image of what show Against The Wall is, it’s probably because you were duped like the rest of us. You heard the words “Internal Affairs,” and you saw a program about a petite blonde who is getting into that particular field—even though she has several siblings and a father who are police officers. Then you saw those words again, with those nice little pink highlights flitting across the screen: “Internal Affairs.” What you didn’t see was those words turning into a second set of words that said “Against the Wall.” You may have just been deceived by poor advertising.

This is a shame, because Against the Wall is earning pretty good reviews. According to Deadline, even with a solid lead-in with Drop Dead Diva airing prior, Against the Wall’s pilot only earned 1.8 million viewers. The sluggish start is certainly a blow Against the Wall may be able to recover from, especially if the program fixes its advertising. However, I’m not expecting Gold Rush: Alaska-esque ratings anytime soon.
