Live Recap - Big Brother 10 Finale - UPDATED WITH WINNERAuthor: Kelly West
published: 2008-09-16 20:45:24
This is it folks! Since July we’ve been watching the houseguests of Big Brother 10 pick each other one by one. As the season went on it became clear that two houseguests were on a course that would eventually lead them to the finale. Sure enough, Dan and Memphis made the right moves and won the right competitions, which allowed their Renegades Alliance to take up residence in the coveted “Final two.” Tonight, all of the Big Brother houseguests will return and most of them will cast a vote that will help determine who will win the tenth season of Big Brother. I’ll be posting updates live right here as the finale airs to stick around or check back in and post your own thoughts in the comment section below!
9:00 p.m. - The episode begins! Mr. BB announcer guy recaps some of the season, talking about the forming of the Renegades and going through each eviction. I doubt it was difficult for the producers to put this little Renegades package together. Separately and together Dan and Memphis plowed through this season week after week. As great as it is to see the Renegades’ greatest hits, let’s get on with the live finale already! 9:06 p.m. Opening credits. Julie Chen is wearing a slinky black dress and doesn’t appear to be sporting any body glitter tonight. Her earings are quite sparkly though. Dan and Memphis are shown in the chairs in the living room looking serious. Footage of the jury convening outside to prepare for the seventh juror. Keesha says she wants Memphis to come in. Ollie talks about being mocked. Libra will be relieved if Jerry were the 7th juror. They all start talking at once and Jerry shows up. No one seems happy. No hugs. It’s hard to tell if their reaction is due to not wanting to see Jerry or because they realize Dan and Memphis are this season’s final two. Michelle says “the two evil people are in there” in reference to the realization that Dan and Memphis are the final two. Jerry talks about Dan and Memphis and how they played everyone. Keesha said she brought Memphis a long way. Jerry said they should have handled both of them. Keesha called Jerry out for putting her and Dan up (the week that Renny went home). Oooh! Renny is yelling at Jerry. She isn’t taking any crap from him anymore. Jerry yells back at her and Renny calls him a chauvinist pig. Go Renny!!! 9:10 p.m. - Renny talks about Memphis being insensitive. Keesha said Dan’s best move was getting everyone to like him. She loves Dan. Michelle says she wished Dan would’ve just told her why he was putting her up. (I think he put her up because he wanted her to be evicted but that’s just speculation). April didn’t like Dan’s roulette move. Ollie seems to agree. Libra’s argument is that it’s a game and they’re trying to win the money. Oh! Ollie just said he tips his hat to Dan for playing the game, in reference to the broken deal. Michelle agrees that this was one of the smartest moves that Dan made. Michelle revealed to Jerry that she went with Dan on the luxury competition. They all agree that it was a game move for Dan to try to get Michelle’s vote. Jerry’s argument is that Memphis let Dan do all of the dirty work. Jerry is defending Memphis’ strength. Keesha says she did all the dirty work for Memphis. April says Memphis played people and not competition. April seems to be favoring Memphis as does Jerry. Renny doesn’t seem appreciative of Memphis’ game. Michelle seems indecisive. 9:18 p.m. - The jurors question the final two. This took place last weekend. Libra goes first and asks Dan what his most strategic move. He says his biggest move was also the hardest and that was backdooring Michelle. April asks Memphis why she should vote for him since they don’t have much of a personal relationship. Memphis says he played the game as a straight shooter (this gets some laughs from the jury). Michelle wants to play Jury house roulette with Dan and asks him why he chose her to go on the luxury trip. Memphis is surprised by this. Dan says he wanted to make amends for backdooring her and answers her second question that it was his idea to backdoor her but he had the support of his alliance (Memphis, Keesha and Renny). Michelle asks Memphis why she should give him the money when he didn’t win one HoH and he told her he threw competitions. Memphis says Michelle was a hard competitor (taking a few lines out of Dan’s script, huh Memphis?). He says he doesn’t think he could beat her at a lot of competitions. The jury seems unimpressed once again. Ollie asks why he brought his girlfriend Monica’s name up in the deal they made during the endurance competition. Dan basically says he had to do whatever it took to win the competition. That was kind of a weird question on Ollie’s part but whatever. Renny asks Memphis what he did for her in the competition. He has a hard time answering this question and basically says he gave her himself. Going back to the whole, I’m a straight shooter thing I guess. Keesha asks Memphis about him voting her out. Memphis says it was the hardest move to vote her out but from a game standpoint he had to do it. He says it bothers him that he might have lost her friendship. Jerry asks Dan if he has any respect for any of them in the Jury house. Dan says he has respect for everyone in the house and he was doing what he had to do for the game. Jerry asks Memphis if he would’ve had the choice to pick the other final-two person, would he have taken Dan or Jerry. Memphis says he hadn’t decided and would have decided in the moment. Dan throws in that maybe Memphis didn’t have to make the decision because he didn’t want to (meaning maybe he threw the final HoH comp). Memphis smiles and says “Thanks Dan” sarcastically. Memphis’ closing statement: He says he only threw two HoH competitions. He goes on to say he never BSed them and that this is the kind of person he is outside the house as well. He goes on to say if they don’t think he’s the right person to win, he’s asking them to vote for Dan. Dan’s closing statement: He talks about how he needed to be more creative to get through the game. He adds that he needed some of the people to dislike him so that he could ensure Memphis would take him to the end if it came to that. April says she enjoyed Memphis’ speech better than Dan’s but let’s face it, her mind was probably made up even before the questioning. That’s probably the case for most of them. I’m thinking only Michelle was truly on the fence before the questioning started. We’ll see if the guys changed any of their minds when they reveal the votes! 9:28 p.m. - Julie brings out the Jury. Libra gets cheers. April’s cheers seem quieter. Michelle comes out and the cheers are even. Same for Ollie. Renny comes out and the cheers get louder. She looks gorgeous by the way. Keesha comes out and there’s more cheers and finally Jerry comes out. Cheers were about even for the most part. No booing that I could hear, anyway. 9:35 p.m. - Julie checks in with the final two. Dan says the Jury questioning was tough but it’s been a heck of an experience this summer. Memphis says it was kind of like being on a firing squad but it was good to get to express his feelings. Time for the jury to vote! Libra votes: Final statement – “Contrary to popular belief, people think this game is real easy and I say when all else fails, just go crazy. May the best man win!” April: She congratulates them both and thanks them for the experience. Michelle: She says it was a crazy ride and congratulates them. Ollie: More congratulations. Looks like no one’s giving anything away here! Renny: “As a business woman, this decision was very easy to make.” She talks about being polite and a person’s human spirit. She’s voting based on that. “That is why I’m voting for this person tonight!!!” Cheers for Renny. Keesha: She tells them she looks at them both like younger brothers and loves them both to death. Jerry: “I tried to get rid of you two!” He adds that he has a lot of respect for both of them and is making his decision tonight based on kindness. Someone showed him kindness and he’ll explain it later. Hmmm…. So the votes are cast! Now the first handful of evicted houseguests who aren’t on the jury will come out and talk about some of the stuff they’ve seen since their eviction earlier in the summer. 9:42 p.m. Shots of BB9’s Matt and BB8’s Zach in the audience. Brian, Steven, Angie and Jessie are on stage. Julie starts with Brian and asks him about his thoughts on the two finalists. Brian congratulates the guys. He also adds that both guys never made it personal and played the game. Brian asks Ollie about the temper tantrum and says he was surprised by that. He goes on to comment on Michelle’s attack on Libra after Libra took the trip. Brian also brings up April and Michelle commenting on Keesha’s physical appearance. Brian you rule! He totally called some of these people out on their bad behavior. Julie goes to Steven next. Steven talks about how Jerry treated Dan and how that was disappointing and how Jerry called Dan “Judas.” Julie introduces the video where Jerry is screaming “Screw you people!” Jerry’s laughing as he watches and talks about Dan using religion and how he used religion back. He said it was effective because Dan stopped “using religion.” Whatever, Jerry Julie says there was no plant and no season long America’s Player but there was a week-long AP twist. Michelle says “I knew it!” We get to see Dan performing his tasks. Michelle keeps saying “I knew it! I knew it!” Memphis is laughing at Dan hugging Jessie. Michelle looks surprised/sad at seeing that it was America who voted for Dan to evict Jessie. Julie announces the Jury prize and we’re off to a commercial. I have to say again, I love Steven and Brian for calling Jerry, Ollie, April and Michelle out on some of the things they said this season. I think all four of them got more than fair edits in the episodes but their attitudes when things weren’t going their way were disappointing and apparently, didn’t go unnoticed by the houseguests who were evicted early on in the game. 9:53 p.m. - It’s time to crown the winner! Votes: Libra: Dan April: Dan Michelle: Dan Ollie: Dan DAN WINS!!!! Was it unanimous? Julie hasn’t said yet. Dan comes out and gets hugs from his girlfriend, family and the other hosueguests. Memphis sneaks off to the side and finds his girlfriend to give her a hug. We go to a commercial. When the show comes back we’ll find out who won the Jury prize. Dan did win unanimously! Julie says the America’s favorite juror was a close race with Jerry getting second place. Keesha wins it! Well deserved, if you ask me! April was standing next to her smiling but I have to wonder what was going through her head right then. Read about my final thoughts on the finale here |
