MacGyver Returns To Stargate SG-1Author: Josh Tyler

I don't watch "Stargate SG-1". In theory I should like it. I loved the movie, I like Richard Dean Anderson and love his replacement Ben Browder. But I can't watch it. I've tried, most recently when Browder joined the cast. I made it through two weeks of force watching before I burned out.
It's mediocre science fiction at this most mediocre. It's no better than a million other cancelled Sci Fi shows, this one just happens to have stuck around. I can't explain, except that fanboys tend to latch onto something and stick with it no matter how much it sucks. So, the good news for you fanboys is that Richard Dean Anderson is coming back to the show. He left to star in credit card commercials as MacGyver, and was replaced by the under appreciated (and in the case of "Stargate" woefully miscast) Ben Browder. Anderson is returning to the series for their 200th episode to reprise his role as General Jack O'Neill. But it doesn't end there. He'll be making guest appearances later on in the season, back on "SG-1" and on the far less than mediocre spinoff "Stargate Atlantis". Anderson's return episode will be called, appropriately, "200", and it'll feature the cast serving as advisors on a television show that bears a striking resemblance to the goings on with the whole Stargate thing. |
