Mad Men fans, you can finally stop holding your breath. Series creator Matthew Weiner, after months of contract negotiations, has finally signed on for the show's third and fourth seasons, just in time for production to get rolling on the new season set to debut in July. Variety says Weiner got the seven-figure salary he was asking for, even though it required AMC (the channel that airs the chow) and Lionsgate (the company that produces it) to team up in order to afford the salary.
The negotiations barely ended in time for either side to save face, as Weiner was in danger of looking like a money-grubbing producer, and AMC and Lionsgate were seemingly willing to kill the golden goose in order to hold out on Weiner. The genius who invented Mad Men started off at a pittance salary when the show debuted, but now that it's a bona fide, Emmy-winning hit, you can bet he wants a piece of the pie.
What matters now is that Mad Men will be filming soon, and our cravings for fedoras, vodka gimlets and crinoline dresses will soon be satisfied.
