Miley Cyrus Kicks Off The New Year On MTV

While Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest are rockin’ out the new year on ABC, Miley Cyrus is set to kick off 2009 FNMTV style on MTV. MTV announced that Cyrus will be hosting a special that will air Wednesday, December 31st. Cyrus is going to show up at a fan’s house and hang out with them for a bit, while also participate in the fan’s favorite charity. Miley’s also set to perform live.

According to MTV, “While Times Square will certainly have its share of New Year’s Eve festivities counting down to 2009, MTV has teamed up with Miley Cyrus, one of music’s biggest stars, to celebrate the year’s end with one of the biggest parties of the year, “FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprise...New Year’s Eve 2009.” The special will air live on Wednesday, December 31 from 8-9:30pm ET, with an encore presentation at 10:30pm ET featuring a live countdown from Times Square. Viewers will be treated to special live performances from Miley, who’ll host the show from the house of a lucky fan, and ring in the new year by congratulating someone who spent 2008 helping to better the lives of others.”

The people over at MTV’s Times Square studio will also be in on the action, hosting performances by All Time Low, The Academy Is… and Kevin Rudolph. Australian twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso aka The Veronicas will be hosting the event on that end to introduce the performers.
