Missi Pyle And Elliot Gould Join TV Land Pilot I'm Not Dead Yet

TV Land’s new comedy pilot, I’m Not Dead Yet, has added a couple of new faces to the cast. Two family members of the central character played by Ben Falcone are now on board: Missi Pyle has taken on the role of his wife, while Elliot Gould will play his father.

I’m Not Dead Yet is a single-camera comedy about a man who is given a terminal diagnosis. Knowing he could die at any moment, he decides to change the way he lives his life. Deadline says that his wife, (Pyle) is initially skeptical of the sudden changes in her husband. His father (Gould), too, is in shock and unsure what to make of his son who now speaks his mind and does what he wants to do in the face of an uncertain future.

While I have expressed some skepticism myself about this project, with a plot that seems a little tired to me and a lack of anything really fresh, the casting is good so far. With good writing and performances, it’s always possible to lift a tired concept above its roots.

Pyle recently popped up in a few guest stints on the Mentalist, Up All Night, and has shown up several times on Two And a Half Men. She appeared in the Best Picture winner The Artist as well. Elliot Gould is best remembered, at least to recent TV audiences, as Jack Geller on Friends, but he has had a long and varied career. I'm Not Dead Yet is set to begin shooting next month.
