Monday Ratings: The Voice, Two And A Half Men, Bones Post Losses

Perhaps because of early showings as well as the capacity to watch online, Starz’s new series, Magic City got off to a seemingly rough start, only premiering to an audience of 295,000 viewers. While the online and early showing stuff may give Starz more of a chance to cheer, over on network television, Monday's numbers were less than stellar.

There were drops across the network board on Monday night. NBC’s juggernaut, The Voice was down 5% in viewership from last week. According to TV Line, this still yielded the show a good 10.4 million viewers, it is still a far cry to what the series was bringing in several weeks ago. Let’s face it: people are not nearly as down with The Voice post battle rounds. Maybe this will change if the vocal competition actually manages to produce a huge star in Season 2.

Fox and CBS also marked drops. Two and a Half Men hit an all-time series low in the 18-49 demographic, dropping to a still-high 3.5. Over at Fox, both House and Bones dropped more than 10%, with Bones taking the harder hit in the 18-49 ratings. Since House is ending fairly soon, this sort of drop is probably somewhat natural. Bones is a little more worrying, however. Fox has jerked the show around all season and now has moved it to a brand new night. I’m chalking this up to fans not knowing Bones is back on air, and especially not knowing when Bones is on, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed the numbers improve in the coming weeks. No real worries, however, because Bones has already been renewed.

Last night’s ratings were not all bad news. Both ABC’s Dancing With The Stars and NBC’s Smash held steady in its demographic. CBS’ Mike and Molly inched up a tenth in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Over at the CW Gossip Girl also picked up a few viewers, although Hart of Dixie followed the pattern this week and also dropped viewership. Here’s hoping Monday’s ratings aren’t so Debbie Downer next week.
