NBC Lines Up Musicians For Christmas In Rockefellar CenterAuthor: Kelly West

We’re at that time of year when the stores and TV commercials want us to believe that the holiday season has begun. Aside from starting my Christmas shopping, I’m resisting the pull to dive into the holiday spirit just yet, believing firmly that it’s impractical to start celebrating Christmas prior to Thanksgiving. It’s just how I was raised. NBC has begun the preparations for the infamous tree-lighting ceremony. I am of course referring to the tree (The one in the city). The 11th annual Christmas in Rockefellar Center telecast will air on Wednesday, December 3rd at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
As it takes no more than a moment to flip a switch and let the pretty, colorful lights illuminate the giant tree, the rest of the hour-long ceremony will be filled with what NBC describes as a “dazzling display of musical talent.” Among the performers set to share in the celebration are Beyonce, Tony Bennett, Neil Boyd, Jonas Brothers (insert screaming tween-sound here), Harry Connick Jr., David Cook, Rosie O’Donnell and The Broadway Kids, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts and Solange Knowles. They’ll all be performing current hits as well as holiday classics throughout the broadcast. Today’s Al Roker will host the event. It seems like they went for a wide enough range of musicians that the show should appeal to the whole family. |
