NBC Officially Renews Parks & Recreation And Community

Great news for fans of television comedy and particularly the excellent shows airing Thursday nights on NBC: the network has officially decided to renew Community, Parks & Recreation and The Office for another season! The news comes from TV Line where NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt said “I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively."

That might be a bit of an overstatement for The Office, a show that has had better days, but totally true for Community and Parks & Recreation, each shows in their second full seasons that seem to be getting better and better with each passing episodes. Though both are critical darlings their fates at the network were less clear than that of fellow Thursday night efforts The Office and 30 Rock (which was already renewed). It leaves a question now about Outsourced, the only remaining NBC Thursday comedy without a new season pickup.

I realize the people drinking beer and shouting outside my window are honoring some kind of arcane holiday, but I'm going to pretend they're celebrating, like I am, the continued existence of Dean Pelton, Ron Swanson, and all the other Community and Parks & Recreation characters who make the world a better place.
