NBC Picks Up Jimmy Fallon's Guys With Kids
NBC’s first multi-camera comedy to make the schedule for next season will be the Jimmy Fallon-produced Guys With Kids. The pilot was picked up to series today, leaving only one other multi-camera still in contention for a spot. NBC has been big on the single-camera comedy pick-ups instead – with 5 already given series orders.
According to Deadline this leaves just one other multi-camera comedy pilot awaiting its fate, Daddy’s Girl, which is a potential to be paired with Guys With Kids if it gets picked up. The other multi-camera pilots NBC looked at this year are apparently out of the picture. Ladyfriends is still technically alive, but the rumor is it’s likely to be dropped.
Guys With Kids stars Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson, and Zach Cregger as three guys having a blast as parents. The description says this is in spite of not being quite grown up themselves, but I’d say that might be replaced by "because of" rather than "in spite of." Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Tempesst Bledsoe are also in the cast, as is Sara Rue in a recurring role as one of the guy’s ex-wives. Rue’s role may have to be re-cast, however since she has a first-position commitment to the Reba McEntire pilot Malibu Country over at ABC. That project hasn’t been given an answer just yet, but if it goes ahead, Rue will head over to ABC.
NBC hasn’t renewed any multi-camera series at this point, and the low-rated Whitney is hanging by a thread, so this could be the only one of its kind to show up on NBC next season.
