NBC To Limit Coverage Of The VA Tech Shooter Video It’s bad enough that someone would go on a shooting rampage and take the lives of more than thirty young adults. In this day and age though, such an act of violence wouldn’t be complete without a self-made video of one’s self mid-murder-spree telling the world why they’re committing such a major act of violence. That is just what the Virginia Tech shooter did and to make sure his fulmination reached as many eyes and ears as possible, he express-mailed his tape to NBC. Since then, complaints from the families and friends of the victims as well as many other sensitive viewers flooded in to NBC and other networks after they aired parts of the video during their news broadcasts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC News said today that they will limit the use of the video to less than 10% of airtime though executives said it will probably be aired even less than that. The network stated, “We have covered this story -- and our unique role in it -- with extreme sensitivity, underscored by our devoted efforts to remember and honor the victims and heroes of this tragic incident.”

Only a portion of Cho Sueng-hui’s video has been shown and the rest of most likely won’t be aired on NBC or any other network. NBC is not the only network trying to show sensitivity towards the devastating incident, which took place on Monday and ended with 33 people, including the shooter, dead. CBS, CNN and ABC have all aired parts of the video but since yesterday, have slowly phased it out of their news broadcasts.

So what do you think? Should the networks devote more coverage to the video and to Sueng-hui’s “side” of the story? Or it is insensitive to plaster this guys face and angry words all over the news? Vote below.
