NBC's The Voice Adds Cee Lo Green And Adam Levine

You can’t have a singing show without some sort of star power. Look at the format for the first season of American Idol. Simon was the behind the scenes guy, Randy was the producer and Paula Abdul was the one that had been there. Now Idol has two stars, plus Randy as producer. NBC’s The Sing Off didn’t even bother with the so-called experts. It went with Ben Folds, one of the Pussycat Dolls and one of the Boyz II Men. It’s no surprise Mark Burnett’s new musical competition effort is actively seeking celebrity musician help.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Voice is already half way to its ultimate quota of famous faces. Former Gnarls Barkley frontman Cee Lo Green is on board as a singing coach, as is Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. That leaves two supports left to cast.

NBC’s The Voice premiers on April 26th at 9 PM EST. Don’t expect it to do Idol-like numbers, but it should compete fairly well during its heated Tuesday night timeslot.
