CBS isn’t really big on the dramedies but it looks like the network is making an exception because one of the new series they have premiering this fall is The Ex List. The series centers on a woman who finds out she has one year to figure out which one of her exboyfriends is “the one” otherwise, she’ll live out the rest of her life alone.
“THE EX LIST is a comedic drama about Bella Bloom (Elizabeth Reaser, Grey's Anatomy) - a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she's already dated her future husband AND there's a catch: if she doesn't find him in the next year, she'll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister, Daphne (Rachel Boston, American Dreams), Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Skeptical, Bella begins to analyze every past liaison and failed romance with her close circle of friends, Augie (Adam Rothenberg, Mad Money), an endearing guy who has listened to Bella's love woes since college, Vivian (Alex Breckenridge, Dirt), Augie's long-term girlfriend, and Cyrus (Amir Talai, Campus Ladies), who's chronically unemployed and full of wry observations. Once Bella witnesses proof of the psychic's other predictions, her cynicism disappears and she begins her search. Along her trip down break-up lane, Bella is determined to remain optimistic and receptive, believing that when destiny reopens doors to the past, every relationship can matter in the future. Diane Ruggiero (Veronica Mars) and Jonathan Levin (Charmed) are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.”
Upon watching the preview for this show on CBS’s website, my immediate reaction was “Ugh, It’s Ava from Grey’s Anatomy!” This is nothing against Elizabeth Reaser as an actress. I’m just totally over that story arc (that keeps resurfacing) on Grey’s but now we're getting kind of off topic.
I know Moonlight fans are disappointed that their show got dropped but I think The Ex List is going to be a good fit for that timeslot. The premise is cute enough and it’s nice to see CBS lightening up a bit for this non-Monday night show. Though I’m curious to see how they’ll be able to stretch it out past one season (if the show even survives that long).
As it stands right now, The Ex List will air on CBS on Friday nights at 9 p.m. starting this fall.

Do you think us women 18 - 48 demo are going to sit at home and watch this on Friday night. I had to laugh when I keep hearing about programming for women. This is so not a womans show and definately not a mans. Advertisers don't walk to the nearest exit - RUN!
Moonlight had a very strong following with women and unfortunately for CBS this show is going to tank! It looks like instead of staying home Friday night to watch Moonlight my husband and I have our Friday night date night back 8-)....
JMHO…If any network could use a show in which 8 million viewers would follow…8 mlllion viewers with disposal income for that network’s advertisers…TheCW would be it.
Moonlight more than doubles TheCW’s “it” show “Gossip Girl,” and with “Smallville” on its 8th and probably last season, Moonlight certainly could fill that void as well.
Also, with the movie “Twilight” hitting theaters December 2008, TheCW would have a show on their network that could piggy-back from the buzz generated.
I wanted to let you and your readers be aware that Moonlight fans are not going to give up on their show without a fight.
The last thing I want to see on a Friday night after a long week of deadlines is a pathetic woman!!!!! Give me back moonlight! Nothing for my kids and husband in this show!!
What is CBS thinking putting this type of show on after Ghost Whisperer? Moonlight was a perfect fit! My husband and I were watching it and recording it! I'm a Ghost Whisperer fan but I liked Moonlight even more! In fact, I forced myself to stay up after a long week to watch it every Friday. Well, I guess I'm going to bed at 9:00 on Fridays again. Thanks CBS!
I agree with the part in your article "If it lasts the season". There will be not loyal fan base, no peoples choice award and no ratings for this little gem "The ex List".
I think it should be renamed "The Axe List". I bet this will fold after 7 episodes of lousy ratings. BUT I must thank Nina for giving me back my Friday night datenight with my husband. Im really looking forward to getting a babysitter and going out for the night.
The Ex-List looks terrible! I go out on Friday nights to spend time with friends, but we wouldn't leave my house until after Moonlight, because we loved the show so much. With this show taking its' timeslot, we'll be leaving an hour earlier.
I'd rather get drunk than stay home and watch that garbage.
Wow...I'm surprised that with all the work that has gone into promoting television shows and movies that don't depict the woman as being the weak damsel's in distress...{Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Lucy Liu & Mariska Hargitay} then turn around and want to put out a show about a 30's something female whinning and complaining about being single...or whatever the plot is supposed to be about, I think is taking steps in the wrong direction...
CBS I'm sorry but I will not be watching your network after The Ghost Whisper is over. Moonlight was a perfect show to watch after it. What I have seen of the Ex-List looks just awful. Yes, Twilight will be coming out this December and Moonlight would have been a great way to get non viewers to watch. Why oh why did you axe such a great, sexy and fun to watch show??? One that I and my whole family looked forward to watching each Friday night. I will really miss this show and hope it shows up on some other station. Your viewer numbers will be slipping this fall due to this programming change. Sorry.
