New Cast Member On Grey's And Tumor Rumor Debunked

New Cast Member On Grey's And Tumor Rumor Debunked As if there weren’t enough new characters on Grey’s Anatomy, there’s another female being added as a recurring role to the upcoming Grey’s roster. Fortunately, it’s not another doctor this time. I think we can all agree that there are enough cooks in that surgical kitchen of drama that is Seattle Grace. No, this new character is a patient.

Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello reported that Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein, Notes from the Underbelly) is being brought on to play a patient in a multi-episode arc sometime in the future. That’s all he had to say about that.

In related Grey’s news, I was thumbing through the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly today and Ausiello’s column features some information about Izzie’s little sex-a-thon with her deceased fiancé Denny. Yeah, we all know the plot makes no sense but I can’t help but feel a twinge of enjoyment at having Denny back. Anyway, there’ve been rumors that Denny’s magical reappearance into Izzie’s world is the result of a brain tumor, which is causing hallucinations of some sort. Apparently, it’s notta-tuma. (insert bad Austrian accent here).

Ausiello reports that series creator Shonda Rhimes denies the tumor-rumor. She is enthusiastic about the twist, saying “I can’t wait for our viewers to see where we’re taking [this story].” Even the actors don’t know where the story’s going. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Denny says, “All I know is that Shonda has something really special planned, so I show up for work and I do what they ask me to do.” I’m guessing that mostly what they ask him to do is say all the right things, be mysterious and smile at Izzie with that half-grin and adoring eyes. Part of me is excited to see where this story is going and the other part of me is apprehensive, having been disappointed by some of the previous supernatural-ish plots in the show (Meredith in the afterlife.)

The full story can be viewed in the November 28th issue of Entertainment Weekly (the one that has “THE 50 SEXIEST MOVIES EVER” on the cover).
