NBC just released some information about new offerings . And due to their sharp humor and the impending elections, NBC has ordered more SNL. Saturday Night Live isn’t just for Saturday’s anymore, and it isn’t just a highlight show, either. SNL Thursday Night Live, is set to air Thursdays this fall after The Office.
Here is what NBC has to say about it:
“SNL THURSDAY NIGHT LIVE - Dubbed "TV's funniest and most influential political player" by Entertainment Weekly, “SNL” expands its "Weekend Update" coverage to Thursdays in primetime for three live half-hour shows beginning October 16. With all of the excitement and attention around "Saturday Night Live" during the presidential primaries, the anticipation for the show's take on this Fall’s election will be at a fever pitch, "SNL Thursday Night Live" will keep the momentum -- and the laughs -- going. The program is a production of Broadway Video in association with SNL Studios. Lorne Michaels is the executive producer. “
I love SNL and watch it every week, whether it is a new episode or not. I’ve been watching since the days of Wayne’s World. My favorite hosts are Derek Jeter, Garth Brooks, Peyton Manning, and the classic Christopher Walken (tonight!) It’s ironic that any entertainment magazine is calling SNL the funniest or most influential anything, since they’ve been constantly criticized since the early days of the show. I am glad that the current cast is getting some respect, even if it is long overdue.

Entertainment Weekly is about as worthless as SNL. There are some talented people working for both, but the writing is generally awful. Even Walken couldn't save this past week's episode – it was filled with 30 second jokes told in 5 minutes.
