Nick At Nite Developing New Show For Scott Baio

Former standout of Happy Days Scott Baio is returning to the scripted television game with an all new show for Nick At Nite. The fifty year old actor had ventured into the reality game recently, hosting Confessions Of A Teen Idol as well as starring in Scott Baio is 45 … and Single, but this new venture will see him back in the comfortable sitcom world he did so well in while on Happy Days and Charles In Charge.

According to Deadline, the new program is called Daddy’s Home, and it follows a beloved television star who steps away from the limelight to let his wife try her hand at a soap opera. Baio’s character was revered for his defining role as one of television’s favorite on-screen dads, but the sitcom did little to prepare him for real life fatherhood. He’ll give raising the kids a go, likely with comical and incompetent results.

Daddy’s Home is currently in the writing phase, but if the network approves of the completed script, the pilot should shoot within the next couple months for a possible premiere later this year. Nick at Nite seems like the perfect venue for Baio to once again try his hand at a scripted show. He should get a fair shake; so, ultimately, it will come down to how well the material plays and not whether America's willing to give the actor another shot.
