Nothing But The Best For These Party Mamas

You know those girls on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16? The ones whose parents throw them lavish wedding-sized (and budgeted) birthday parties? What do you suppose happens to them when they grow up, get married and have kids of their own? My guess is that many of them become the types of women featured in WE tv’s new series, Party Mamas.
Party Mamas centers on moms who throw their kids ridiculously huge celebrations. They’ll probably claim that they do it because they want to make their kids happy but when a parent throws their three-year-old a pirate themed party on a ship, complete with sword-fighters, lets face it; the party’s not really for the kid. In addition to the pirate Party Mama episode, there will also be an episode featuring a mom who throws her nine-year-old a $30,000 baseball-themed party. When I was nine, a party at McDonalds or Chuck E. Cheese’s was the height of cool. But as McDonalds doesn’t serve Kobe beef burgers, it’s unlikely that the fast-food joint was on the list of venue options for these moms. They want the best for their kids (and themselves). And after all, if you have money to burn, why not use it to throw a ridiculously huge party for your kid? The concept of the series is hardly new but at the same time, it’s far from tired. For those of us who don’t have the funds to throw a party that costs more than we make in a year, its fun to see how the richer-half disposes of their extra cash. If not, tune in to laugh at the crazy rich people who lose all perspective when trying to throw the most lavish, envy-inducing bash in an effort to make sure their friends and neighbors know how much they’re worth.
