I suppose it was only a matter of time before Nadya Suleman aka “Octomom” landed a reality TV show deal. With all of the publicity surrounding the birth of her eight babies and the controversy about her financial situation added to the popularity of shows involving families with huge amounts of kids (Jon and Kate Plus 8, Raising Sextuplets), it’s no surprise that Suleman would get her own show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Suleman signed a deal for each of her 14 children to earn $250 a day to star in the reality TV show, which is being produced by European production company Eyeworks (Breaking Bonaduce, The Biggest Loser). The contracts ensure about $250,000 for the kids collectively over three years. The show is supposed to start shooting on September 1st.
It wasn’t just that Suleman’s babies turned out to be the world’s longest-surviving set of octuplets that made her story such a big deal. The real controversy came when it was learned that she was single, unemployed, had six kids already and on public assistance and was still somehow allowed to have an in vitro fertilization procedure done.
