The Office Clip: Watch Michael Scott Meet David Brent

Fans of both the U.K. and U.S. versions of The Office have waited long enough to see Michael Scott and David Brent cross paths and it finally happened tonight. Watch the clip of their run-in here!

West Coasters: Spoiler alert! The episode hasn’t begun airing on your side of the country just yet, so if you want to wait to see this clip when The Office airs, read no further!

There are probably few people who can truly appreciate Michael Scott’s sense of humor and I can’t say I’m all that surprised that David Brent is one of them. When watching the video below, which features Ricky Gervais reviving his role as David Brent from the original Office series on which our beloved NBC series was adapted, I’m reminded of Michael’s reaction when Holly responded to his Yoda impersonation by doing one of her own. It’s as though what he’s witnessing is simply too good to be true. Or maybe that’s just my own reaction reflecting off my TV screen because I absolutely love this…

They meet randomly in passing and begin spouting ridiculous jokes most people would find offensive, as though being in orbit of one another has triggered some hidden programming to connect, if only for one brief moment outside an elevator. They joke. They laugh. They hug like long lost brothers and then depart, like two ships in the night. I had to watch it three times because those few moments just didn’t feel like enough. And now I’m in desperate need of an Office (UK) re-watch.

What did you think? Was the moment all that you hoped it would be?

The Office airs on Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
