There've been a few departures over the course of The Offices's eight season run, and come Season 9, one former cast member will make a return as a guest star. Find out who that is ahead. Spoiler alert!
Once upon a time, a receptionist named Pam Beesly was engaged to a man named Roy, who didn't give her the attention she deserved. It took Pam a while to figure this out, and after Jim professed his love for her, and she rejected him, she ended up not marrying Roy. The two attempted to reunite, but Roy's rage issues stood in the way and inevitably led to his departure from Dunder MIfflin (and The Office). The last time we saw David Denman's character was when he made a brief appearance in Season 5, right around the time Jim and Pam were engaged. According to TVLine, Denman will return in Season 9 for a guest spot.
TVLine's sources say Denman will show up in Episode 2 of Season 9. As to the nature of his reappearance, the site doesn't say, but we do know The Office is being set up for a bit of re-shuffling, with a few actors stepping down from full-time roles (B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling) and a possible departure of Rainn Wilson if the Schrute spin-off series happens. So really, anything could happen. At the very least, it should be interesting to see how Roy reacts to seeing the Halperts as a happy family, assuming their paths cross in the episode.
Since The Office, Denman has appeared in Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva and starred in the unfortunately short-lived Fox comedy Traffic Light. We'll also see him in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan-directed scifi film After Earth, which stars Will and Jaden Smith.
