Oprah Bumped By BushAuthor: Josh Tyler

The President’s approval ratings may be at an all time low, but he’s still got the power to bump Oprah. The appointed leader of America’s stay at home mom’s saw her “Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball” television special muscled off the airwaves Monday night. It had been scheduled to air May 15th, unfortunately George W. Bush chose that time to address an increasingly disinterested nation about immigration reform.
Oprah’s celebrity hugging special has now been rescheduled, and it’ll run Monday May 22nd instead. The show features Oprah hanging out with celebrity buddies like Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige. It’s a celebration of African American women, and in honoring 25 women who paved the way for others it includes celebrity interviews, behind the scenes footage, and likely a lot of self congratulation. The special may be a bore, but it probably won’t help Bush’s tainted public perception to bump a show about minority group achievement so he could tell us about the piranhas he plans to put in the Rio Grande in order to keep Mexicans out. |
