Outlander Sets Comic-Con Panel, Ronald Moore, Diana Gabaldon And Cast To Appear
Following word that Starz was hosting the world premiere of Ronald D. Moore's highly anticipated Outlander series during Comic-Con in San Diego this year, comes an update from Starz that the series will also be showcased in a panel at the actual convention. Starz announced plans to host a panel at SDCC on Friday. The Outlander panel will feature executive producer Ronald D. Moore, along with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, and stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish and Lotte Verbeek.
Here's the official announcement Starz posted on the official Outlander TV series Facebook page today:
No specifics on who's moderating or what will be going on during the panel were mentioned, but it might be too much to hope that Starz will screen the pilot during the panel. For one thing, I think they would have mentioned that. And for another, the big event they have planned for Friday night in San Diego, not far from the convention center, is listed as the world premiere of Outlander. So fans may not want to cross their fingers that they'll see the first episode during the panel, but hopefully some footage will be revealed and we'll get to hear from the cast, along with Ron Moore and Diana Gabaldon. That in itself is especially exciting when we consider that the series will make its debut on Starz in a month!
Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a British WWII combat nurse who goes to Scotland with her husband (Tobias Menzies) for a vacation and ends up getting thrown back through time while visiting a strange rock formation. Claire finds herself stuck in the 18th century and eventually forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a gallant young warrior who vows to keep her safe. We're expecting romance, adventure and a lot of plaid from this series, and everything we've seen from it has not disappointed in that respect.
Knowing that Outlander was premiering during Comic-Con was exciting news, but it's especially promising that the series will have its own panel at the actual convention is even better! The panel will take place Friday, July 25 at 2:15 in Room 6A. And there's also an autograph session on Friday from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Booth 4029.
