Parks & Recreation Renewed, Whitney And 1600 Penn Canceled At NBC

First the good news, for fans of waffles, public service, Paunch Burger and all the bacon and eggs you have. NBC renewed Parks & Recreation! Please head down to the Snakehole Lounge, put on a tiny hat, and celebrate accordingly.

Now the bad news-- NBC has pulled the plug on several other series, with Whitney, Guys with Kids, Up All Night and 1600 Penn all getting the ax, according to Deadline. That leaves the network still to make decisions on the fate of Go On, The New Normal and Community-- all of which could potentially face cancellation as well.

Of course, none of them were as obvious targets as Up All Night, which underwent major turmoil when the network tried to change the format and star Christina Applegate quit not longer after. Whitney was also holding on by a thread after nearly facing cancellation in its first season, but when star Chris D'Ellia signed on to the NBC pilot Undateable, it wasn't a strong sign either. As for 1600 Penn the show premiered in January to general audience indifference, and at least one of its stars also signed on to another pilot, a sign spelling its doom.

We're in the middle of major TV update season, so keep checking back for all the information on whether your favorite shows will be returning, as well as which new ones will be joining network lineups in the fall.

OK, here's one last Parks & Rec celebration gif.
