A number of things were revealed during last night’s mid-season finale of Battlestar Galactica. (Spoiler Warning: If you haven't seen the episode, stop reading now!) In fact, by the end of the episode, I found myself wondering what wasn’t revealed in the episode. Upon thinking it over, I realized the answer to that question is, “a lot.” I doubt I was alone in being completely surprised that the humans found earth already. Somehow I just assumed that wouldn’t happen until the end or at the very least, closer to the finale. In a single episode, the four final-fivers were outed, the humans re-allied with the rebel cylons and they all made it to earth together. So what’s left for the rest of the series? I decided to come up with a list of questions that have yet to be answered and I’m guessing/hoping will be resolved by the time the series ends.
Major Questions Yet To Be Answered
What’s the deal with the visions involving Baltar, Six, Roslin and Hera?
Where’s the fifth? Whoever it is, according to D’Anna, they’re not among the fleet so where are they? Are they dead (or presumed dead)? Or are they still wherever the other four came from? And how does D’Anna know they’re not with the fleet? It will be interesting to see what information, if any, she reveals about the fifth.
What happened to earth? Who demolished the thirteenth colony and where did everyone go? How long have they been gone? Will the fleet be able to stay on earth or is the planet uninhabitable due to radiation?
Where are the rest of the cylons? Did Boomer die when the hub blew up or are she and the rest of the non-rebels off somewhere trying to figure out where everyone else jumped off to? Will they have cooled off by the time they do reunite with the humans and rebels (I’m guessing a reunion is inevitable)?
What’s Kara’s special destiny? Is that all done with now that they’ve found earth or is there more to it?
Unresolved Character Issues
Tigh and Adama: Will they be able to go back to being friends? Can Adama get over Tigh being a Cylon and learn to trust him again?
Adama and Roslin: How much time does Roslin have left and will she be able to spend any of it with Adama? Given the state of Earth, it looks like she’s going to have her hands full.
Roslin and Tory: Will these two even be speaking to each other when the season resumes? Will they have a reason to? Tory’s no longer working for the president. I’d still love to see the awkwardness that’s sure to ensue if ever these two need to be in a room together. Plus I’d be surprised and maybe even a little disappointed if Tory were to be indifferent towards Roslin’s inevitably declining health.
Tory and Anders: At the very end of “Revelations,” we saw Tory and Anders standing with the group on earth and Tory reaches out to him but he walks away from her. What was that all about? I kind of thought they were over since “Crossroads.” And since we’re talking about Tory, is it over between her and Baltar or just beginning? It’s not like Baltar’s got any issues with dating a Cylon.
Anders and Kara: We barely got to see Kara’s reaction to Anders being a Cylon. Will she even try to reconcile with him? It’s not like things were so great between them before this whole Final-Five business. What’s going to happen now that she knows he’s a frakkin’ toaster?
Kara and Lee: Lee’s got his big-boy suit and political aspirations to keep him warm at night now and seeing them in the scenes they had in “Revelations” just felt different. Is there anything left to the Starbuck/Apollo romance? Or are these two just headed in different directions?
Caprica and Tigh: So what’s up with these two? Are Tigh’s feelings for Caprica based entirely on her tendency to morph into Ellen in his mind or is he genuinely in love with her? And now there’s baby Tighlon on the way. I have a hard time picturing Tigh and Caprica with a happy little family much like the Agathons (on a good day, anyway). So what’s next for them?
Caprica and Baltar: Are these two donesville now that Caprica’s got a thing going with Tigh and Baltar has (or had) a thing with Tory (and his cult women)? Will there be any closure with their relationship or at least a general acknowledgement now that things are done?
Are there any totally big relationships that I missed? What are you most excited to see in the second half of the final season? Any theories as to how some of these issues are going to be resolved?

You mentioned some of the unresolved issues, but there are more. A few other big mysteries:
- What the frak happened to Starbuck in "Maelstrom"?
- Why are the Final Five so special, how are they connected to the priests from the Temple of Five, how are they connected to the Space Between Life and Death, and why are the Seven not supposed to talk about them?
- Who are "the Original Programmers" of the Cylons?
- Where do the Hybrids get their visions from?
I also wonder why is Hera so special and why there was so much made of Cylon inability (?) to procreate with each other.
Other character/storyline issues, besides those you mention:
- How come nobody gives a frak about Natalie's death, and how come Athena is out of the brig, walking free on the beach on Earth, even though she was crazy just a few days ago and willing to shoot any Sixes (and possibly Baltar) just because of her vision?
- Tyrol: his breakdown and the fate and importance (?) of his son Nicky. (ex)Chief's madness hasn't lead up to anything so far, and I think it's supposed to, especially with his pose with the knife in the Last Supper picture, and Ron Moore's comments in the article that the knife should be seen "in the context" of his son being a hybrid.
Will Tyrol ever find out that Tory killed Cally?
Will there be any follow-up to Tyrol's reconciation with Baltar (I hope it wasn't supposed to be just a cool character moment?) Speaking of which...
- Baltar's cult: it is obviously supposed to have a big role in the story, which makes sense since so much about the main storyline is about religion and monotheism vs polytheism. But so far, it has all felt like nothing but a setup for what is to come.
I hope that we'll see some kind of followup to Tory/Baltar as well (even though Baltar/6 is my favourite BSG couple). I also liked the pairing, even if it wasn't the healthiest or most romantic one, in its own way it was very intriguing and hot.
re: Tory/Anders - Yes, I think they were finished back in Crossroads II, when they found out they were Cylons. But there are times when Tory just seems to be eager to find anyone who she could be close to and who would care for her and where she could feel important and accepted. Look at how overjoyed she was when she felt she had found a place among 'her people', the Cylons, as a new member of the family. I wonder how that is going to work out. But her fellow Final Fivers seem like the most obvious choice, particularly Anders who she had had a sort of relationship with before. She also tried to reach to Tyrol before, but he's too wrapped up in his own madness now (not to mention that she's scared that he'll find out she killed his wife). (Tigh? Not an option, I don't think she even likes him, especially after he pimped her out in "Six Of One"... besides, "Colonel, you're not my type" :p ) What about Baltar? Well, I think she's not that stupid to believe that he actually cares much about her, and besides, in "Guess What's Coming to Dinner", it looked like it was kind of going wrong... I am not sure what the status of their relationship is now, maybe they don't know either.
It goes without saying that I really, really want to see more Baltar/6 (in any and every version) interaction in season 4.5, and some kind of resolution and closure to their story. They can't just keep ignoring their story, which is a major one in the show. I was very disappointed that we haven't seen any Caprica 6/Head Baltar scenes this season.
For that matter, I was very disappointed not to have seen much of Caprica 6 at all, and the little we did see of her, it was all through Tigh's point of view. I'm really sick and tired of the Ellen morph thing, and I was annoyed that they never bothered to focus on Caprica's perspective and her motivations for hooking up with Tigh. Or her reaction to Tigh being a FF. Or her reaction to her own pregnancy. (Speaking of which, I would also love to see Baltar's reaction to that piece of news!)
I kinda like the idea of Tigh/Caprica. Both have loved hard but badly. Both are looking for redemption. They make an interesting match.
I was always more of a Kara/ Anders shipper then a Kara/Lee shipper. Then again never did much like Lee.
Would love me some Tory/Roslin awkwardness. Much fun there.
Ditto to the Tigh/Adama awkwardness but with them I want it resolved at least somewhat.
As for Roslin and Adama. They were always sweet but also doomed from the start. I would love one perfect moment between them. One moment where everything goes right before she dies. And then have Adama go ape shit crazy and have Tigh be the one who picks up the peices. (facilitating his refreindship with Adama)
That's just my predictions and opinions.
Oh yeah and I really do like Tory and Baltar together. They make an interesting pair.
After reading the above comments I've started to think, maybe the Final Five are descendants of the 13th tribe that colonized Earth? Maybe after Earth was nuked, some people escaped and they or their descendants became the Final Five Cylons. And maybe they had a hand in creating the first humanoid Cylons. That would explain why the Final Five have been to Earth, and why the fates of the humans and the Cylons seem to be intertwined. Of course if this theory is correct, then the nuclear holocaust on Earth must have happened around 30 years ago (since Tigh has been around for at least 30 years). I don't know if after 30 years the soil would still be so irradiated and if the ruins would look so recent - shouldn't they be more eroded (or covered by vegetation - although the nuclear explosion may have prevented any plants from growing there as they normally would)?
What does everybody else think of this theory? Is the soil's irradiation and the ruins' erosion consistent with the nuclear explosion happening 30 years ago?
Yeah! I wondered the same thing about the whole Hera deal. And do you notice she never really has any emotions when she is with her parents? I don't think I ever see her smiling with them, just a straight emotionless face.
On the Q&A with Michael Hogan on the Scifi Battlestar site, he talked about being relieved that this was the last season. Our Sci Fi channel didn't even inform us that this was the mid-season finale, we just saw at the end that there is a "Final Revelation." What is up? Am I to assume that they have already shot all the episodes and we will see them this fall or Jan 2009 for 4.5? The Sci Fi site doesn't say ANYTHING.
About earth...I wondered if the 13th colony killed off earth and then found Caprica. The stories in their bible just tell about earth... not necesarrily tell them to go there? I will have to go back to the beginning and start watching all over again to get some forgotten details...
Or the 13th colony on earth were all cylons and they destroyed earth in a fight with humans, just the way they did Caprica. Because how did the cylons know MORE about earth AND the humans, then they even did of themselves??? But why did the hybrid want to help them get to earth if it is a wasteland? And what about Tyrol? He believes in the "Gods" because he was raised with ministers for parents. If he is a cylong why did that happen? I know they can plant false memories in his braing, but why would they do that? Or Did his parens adopt him as a young child to try to protect him from the cylons?
I digress... From my last question ---Of course, if the cylons destroyed earth then went to Caprica then how did humans get onto Caprica???
Ref the Galactica being the 5th cylon. Maybe... "Machines" probably built it afterall.
I wonder though, how it is going to play out for the final 4 that have been revealed. Will they be revered by the cylons? Will there become a split between humans and cylons again in a fight for power because the 4 are their revered ones? Hopefully they will just nominate one of them as their leader for their part of the colonies and they will become the 14th colony or something like that...
All very confusing but makes for some great new episodes to be anxious for.
Thanks for letting me blog and express myself. It's always crazy after a show!
I thought the same thing about Tigh and Six...but we have to remember that we still don't know the full extent that the known final five are different from the other Cylons...they were also on Earth, it was said. So, did they have something to do with the destruction of it?
Was Earth destroyed and then Kobol founded (and the true history of human exodus was subverted in some way)... after the Cylon war...and the Cylons leaving for another planet, did the final five end up being send to find Earth and destroy it.. perhaps?
How Earth figures into this is truly gnawing at me... I want to know!
Also, as I watched the Galactica prep for Jump (and realized in other episodes that the sides glow red - I had the craziest thought that perhaps the Galactica herself is a Cylon controlled machine - forgetting all the old throwback techie talk that safe guarded it from being able to be under Cylon control etc).
The other thing that bothers me is that Six in Baltar's head has been conspicuously absent. What's up with that?
Is there a true higher power (God) orchestrating events?
God, this one episode made up for some of the "off kilter" episodes this season.
Hey...you forgot a monster biggie... The BSG 6 is going to have a baby by Tigh... This is the first time a purely Cylon mating has allowed this. This is the single biggest news for the Cylon boys and girls. It means they won't die out after all. Heck, everyone has missed this tidbit.
