Rashida Jones Talks About Parks And Recreation

We spent a long time having no idea what was going on with NBC's show Parks and Recreation, wondering if it was a spin-off of The Office, if any of the characters would be the same, and what the show was even about. Less than a month before the show's debut, Rashida Jones gave us a few answers at the junket for I Love You Man.

First of all, no, it's definitely not a spin-off. "I play a totally different character," Jones told us. " I play a nurse named Anne Perkins. My boyfriend falls into a ditch and he breaks both his legs. i try to get somebody in the city to help me, or fill it in, or whatever." The person who decides to help her out is the character played by Amy Poehler, a dedicated parks & recreation employee.

But Jones admits that we'll notice some similarities to The Office, particularly in the way the series is filmed. "What's similar about it is the documentary style. That, and the interviews and stuff. You get the sense of two camera crews. There's one that's following me and my cause, and one following Amy and her rise through government."

Jones also said that they've only filmed one episode, despite the fact that the show debuts April 9. But if they've got even of a fraction of the talent that makes The Office so consistently entertaining, they'll probably be just fine.
