I’m not sure how I feel about the Arrested Development movie, but I know that I’m at least a little excited to see what creator Mitch Hurwitz has up his sleeves for a next project. Happiness Isn’t Everything is another CBS comedy, and that may give us AD fans pause. But CBS has shown with How I Met Your Mother that they’re willing to tread a little outside of the traditional sitcom space. Besides, if anyone can do a CBS sitcom with edge it’d be Hurwitz.
Richard Dreyfuss has now been tapped to star opposite of Jason Biggs in the pilot for Happiness. The seasoned actor will play the pushy patriarch of the family in the show, with Biggs playing his son. It really sounds like Hurwitz enjoys exploring the quirky side to familial relationships. With Dreyfuss on board I can’t wait to see what this new thing becomes. I’m OK with Hurwitz doing a HIMYM style comedy, as long as it’s done his way. Also joining the pilot is Ben Schwartz as Biggs’ older brother. No word on whether anyone will be riding a Segway around, or get their hand eaten by a seal. |
