Rihanna has been all over the television in the past season, beginning her year with a brief judging shift on The X Factor and moving on to a stint as musical guest on Saturday Night Live last weekend. Fresh off her live SNL performance, it seems Rihanna has been bitten by the TV bug.
Now, THR is reporting the popular singer is set to give an extra special appearance on the season finale of American Idol. The singer will still have a few weeks away from a TV stage to relax before her performance on the 2-hour special Season 11 final episode – it will not air until May 23. However, as the show grows ever closer to its final contestants, Rihanna will have to bring a little extra to the performance if she expects to be more than a sideshow for an audience that is mostly interested in the results. Rihanna will be performing “Where Have You Been,” a song that regrettably does not feature a question mark in the title. It’s one of the same tracks Rihanna presented on the SNL stage, which makes sense, since it is her most recent single off her sixth studio album Talk That Talk. Her vision for her recent performance was pretty elaborate for the usually-basic late-night stage. So provided Rihanna can one-up herself on the Idol stage, I assume she will do fine. Let’s just hope she doesn’t skip dress rehearsal this time. Back to top
