Rob Estes Joins 90210 Spinoff

CW just announced that they are casting Rob Estes as the dad in the new 90210 spinoff. That is enough to make me tune in – whatever happened to Silk Stalkings? I loved him in that show…

You know what is sad? When a guy you used to drool over as a teenager is cast as the “dad” on a new series that is a spinoff of a show that you used to watch as a teenager. That is sad. But, it makes sense, I guess. I am a mom now, so it isn’t like he could be cast as they young hearthrob anymore, and I should expect it. I know these things, but it doesn’t make it any easier.

Anyway, “Estes will play the father, Harry Mills, who takes a job as principal of West Beverly High, his alma mater, after he moves his family from Kansas back to Beverly Hills to take care of his aging alcoholic mother, Tabitha (Jessica Walter)."

Hollywood Reporter reported the story this morning, and reminds us that this is Mr. Estes second spinoff from the original 90210 franchise. He was also on Melrose Place.
