Romanek May Direct Locke And Key

We’ve finally gotten a few pieces of information about Fox’s upcoming adaptation of the comic series Locke And Key, and all have to be considered A+s. First, Mark Romanek is in talks to direct. Those around Hollywood probably best know him for having directed One Hour Photo, but his real lasting impact, thus far, has come in the form of music videos. Arguably the greatest video director in history, Romanek has helmed such classics as Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”, Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” and Johnny Cash’s “Hurt”. The latter is arguably the most moving music video ever to receive heavy rotation on VH1 and MTV.

That’s not all though. According to Deadline, Miranda Otto has officially agreed to play the lead character, a single mother who moves her children to a rundown mansion that’s been in her family for centuries. From Clue to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, setting your story in a decrepit pseudo-castle is almost always a great idea. Especially when it promises supernatural shenanigans, as Locke And Key does.

Just because it’s awesome, here’s a look at Romanek’s vision of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt”…
