Sex And The City's Darren Star Adapting Honest Toddler For A TV Show
It sounds like Darren Star is hoping to give Honest Toddler the Sex and the City treatment. The man who turned Sex and the City from a book (based on a newspaper column) into a successful HBO TV series is aiming to do something similar for Honest Toddler, a popular Twitter feed, which has recently been adapted to a book. The show - should it actually go on to become a show - is described as "a Modern Family from a toddler's point of view."
Deadline reported the news, stating that Star's adaptation is being eyed for broadcast or cable and would be based on Bunmi Laditan's popular Twitter Feed @HonestToddler, which dispenses parenting advice and other opinions from the perspective of a toddler. Here's a couple of samples from the Twitter…
Deadline says the Twitter got its start in May of last year when Laditan was having a particularly rough week with her two-year-old. Now she has more than 240k followers and a book based on the feed, which was published last month. And she may add a TV series to that success, should things go well with Star's adaptation. Not only is Star credited for creating Sex and the City, he also created Beverly Hills, 90210 and its spinoff Melrose Place. Those series sound a bit outside the subject matter of Honest Toddler, but maybe not the target audience, if we consider that a lot of fans of his previous series may be parents now. So we'll have to wait and see if this project moves forward and if so, where it lands.
