ThinkMTV is bringing Dr. Drew Pinsky back to the studios at MTV to start production on a new show entitled Sex... with Mom and Dad. As fun and exciting as that sounds, it’s worse than you think. The show is a retooling of an unnamed European show, and will not only educate, but also embarrass and entertain. Ah, the three E’s of parenting – Educate, Embarrass, Entertain. Those of you without kids won’t have read the handbook, and you don’t realize those are the foundations of what we do.
The information we received states, “In each half-hour episode of Sex... With Mom and Dad, Loveline's relationship expert Dr. Drew will help a teen and their parents work through their problems discussing sex, dating and relationships. The series will spotlight a wide spectrum of issues from a promiscuous teen whose mom can't control his "manwhore" behavior; to a virgin heading off to college whose dad refuses to give her the sex talk she desperately wants; to a gay teen whose mom is troubled by his taste for bad boys. Whatever the issue, Dr. Drew will get the family talking - often for the very first time - about sex and intimate relationships. Dr. Drew will meet with the family to pinpoint the issue and assign two fun, yet daunting tasks tailored to the family's issues and help open up about sexual beliefs and experience. Shockingly frank, upbeat, and funny, "Sex...with Mom and Dad" proves that if families can talk about sex, they can talk about anything - ultimately breaking down barriers and improving relationships in the process.”
The show will cover every sexual topic you can think of – including the ones you probably don’t want to. My parents had the “talk” with me, and it was bad enough in the living room, let alone on national television. I wouldn’t be down with that, but there is always someone who wants their 5 minutes, right?
Sex with Mom and Dad will premiere at 7pm ET/PT on September 29th. Make sure you tune in with your parents, or kids – whichever applies to your circumstances. I’m sure my 5 year old and I will be watching…Scooby Doo, not Sex... with Mom and Dad
Like I said, educate, embarrass, and entertain…words to live by for every parent.

i think that this show does a lot of good. im 17 years old and i have had many sexual partners and this show has encouraged me to feel open about talking to my mom about sex. i do think that some of the things they do on the show are a little crossing the line (ie the sexual position dolls) but i think that asking thoughs questions does make it more comfortable to just ask questions. i think this show is very benifital. =]
Sex is really hard to talk about with your parents. With my parents they would be really disappointed wiht me. Now maybe I could discuss it with my mom, but my dad, there is no way. my parents wouldn't trust me anymore that's why I would never talk about sex with them. I would like to if I knew they would take it ok, but I know they wouldn't.
This show crosses so many boundaries..The episode with the dad playing the game involving guessing his 2 daughters likes and dislikes during sex was over the top.The there was the episode of the mom acting out with dolls her favorite sex positions and asking her daughter if she has orgasmed and what is her favorite sexual position. How is this helping kids? Many of them have already had multiple partners. I think this type of show just glorifies promiscuity-normalizes it.Shame on Dr Drew!
this show is amazing...ilost my virginity at 15 and i wish there was a show like this ....it helps you in many ways ..some parents that abstinence i the only way but in reality some of our youth are stiull having sex and some one needs to communicate the realness of there actions ...why not tv ....most of our teenagers watch tv ...if the cant go to there parents we dam sure dont want them going to their friends so i ask why not tv.......
i have a seriuose question i never realy talk to anybodt bout this but when i was 15 i was in a horrible relation it was abusive and i use to get beat the guy made me do things i didnt want to do and force me to do things i didn't want or know know what i was doing we didnt have sex im still a virgin and i know it was bad i lgot out of that relationship and its been over 3 yeaers and im happiest i ever been with my boyfriend michael but what i want to ask is now that im older and understand what the stuff is i want that with my boyfriend not sex but want to do that other stuff like oral sex stuff i guess you can say i am just woundering if it is normal and healthy to want those desires and do those deires if im ready or should i wait until i have sex b4 i do this stuff or is this better to do instead of sex becuase i wnat to wait until im married
I think that this show is exactly what society needs! Unlike the people that are responsible for "Date My Mom", Dr. Drew Pinsky is a credible medical doctor and psychiatrist. Thank goodness that this show is teaching adolescents to make responsible decisions regarding their sexuality--by talking with their parents. As a graduate student researching women's health and human sexuality, believe me - this show is a step in the right direction! It's about time MTV showed young people the consequences associated with sex, and not just sex and sexuality! Communication with parents is the first step...Way to go Dr. Drew and MTV!
This show is everything that's wrong with society. It crosses soo many lines. Considering that mostly young people watch mtv, it's sad to see them get brainwashed by more mtv shows making them think the most extreme messed up people are the norm.
A lot of their "reality" shows are actually scripted with actors posing as real people. Remember "date my mom?" All actors reading a script. Ask yourself why...
Boycott mtv! The govt. is involved in their shows to make the next generation too messed up to have healthy families in the future. Healthly families would bond and fight against against the dictatorship the govt. is trying to turn America into. It's the truth.
