The Simpsons' Springfield Will Come To Life At Universal Orlando This Summer
Springfield, Springfield, it's a hell of a town! And it's headed to Universal Orlando Resort this summer. The Simpsons fans who have always wanted to visit the animated series' town will now have the opportunity to do so - or the closest thing to it - when Universal Orlando opens the new area of their park, which will allow fans to walk the streets of Springfield, and ride the new mega-attraction The Simpsons Ride.
With The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Harry Potter fans have the opportunity to immerse themselves in J.K. Rowling's world, and it sounds like Universal is offering a similar experience for Simpsons fans. Wonder what it feels like to Barney-belch after gulping down a frothy mug of Duff Beer? Those of age to purchase some will be able to get it at Universal's new Springfield attraction. It's being brewed just for the park. Guests will be able to walk the streets of Springfield, eat foods featured in the long-running Fox animated comedy and interact with the characters, including Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob, who will make their Universal Orlando debut with the new area. Probably a good idea to keep those two apart.
For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as “Shelbyville by the Sea.” They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman, get a slice at Luigi’s Pizza, go nuts for donuts at Lard Lad, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” with Bumblebee Man and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern.
There's also a new attraction that sounds out of this world. It's called Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl, and it's said to take "foolish humans on an intergalactic spin designed to send them into orbit."
I'm currently developing a deep craving for a Krusty burger and a donut with pink icing. Mmmm… donut… I'd be willing to sell Bart's soul for a pink frosted donut… or some ALF pogs.
I keep saying I'm going to get down to Orlando to check out the Harry Potter park. The Springfield addition is one more incentive to plan a trip. Unviersal says the Springfield area will open this summer, though no specific date was mentioned.
