Smash Preview: Bernadette Peters Sings Everything's Coming Up Roses

In a what is sure to be a slice of excellent Broadway brilliance during tonight’s episode of Smash, the great Bernadette Peters is set to make an appearance on the series, and from this clip we have to show you, she’s bringing some of that excellent stage talent of hers to the NBC drama series.

Last week’s episode offered a little nugget of foreshadowing of Ms. Peters’ arrival in the form of an Into the Woods poster tacked up on the wall in the background of a scene. Tonight, we’ll see Broadway and film star Bernadette Peters guest star on Smash, playing Broadway star Leigh Conroy, who also happens to be Ivy’s mother. Per NBC’s description for the episode, Conroy undermines Ivy at every turn. Check out Peters in the video below as she performs “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”...

I’ve loved Peters since she played Lily St. Regis in Annie, so I may be biased here, but the above clip seems to demonstrate her talent and star quality beautifully.

Meeting Ivy’s mother could give us some insight into her character. It couldn’t have been easy growing up in the shadow of a Broadway star.

Smash airs Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
