Smallville is gearing up for “Absolute Justice” on February 5th. Now that Lana is gone the show has begun to focus on not only Clark’s early years and transformation into Superman, but also some other things that rattled around in the halls of DC. Like the Justice Society of America.
From sneak preview pictures posted online of Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and Stargirl it looks like the Smallville creators are going for the comic geek gusto. The new Justice Society characters are wearing costumes reminiscent of the art design back in the 1940s comics. It may even be that these retro looking heroes are really the pseudo pre-cursor to the Justice League of America. Although I’m not sure how willing the Smallville producers are to utilize convoluted storylines and multiple universes, or whatever else, to explain this stuff.
Heck, the JSA members in “Absolute Justice” could just be Smallville’s Minutemen.
