American Idol has wrapped up Season 11. Another winner has been crowned, and those of us familiar with Fox know the network won't miss a beat in bringing their other great talent competition series back to fill the inevitable Idol void. So You Think You Can Dance premieres tonight! Check out this promo video ahead to see some of the talent that awaits.
So You Think You Can Dance features aspiring young dancers as they're paired with other dancers and set to show off their talent in a variety of styles. Like Idol, each season begins with the nationwide auditions, after which those selected to go on to Vegas attempt to impress the judges for a spot in the finals. When the competition is whittled down to the Top 10 contestants, the dancers are paired up with an "All Star" dancer from a previous season. Tonight's episode airs at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox and features the New York and Dallas auditions.
It's an interesting (and welcome) change that they're combining the performance and results episodes. That's an adjustment that I wouldn't mind seeing become a trend among these elimination series, given how drawn out those results episodes really are.
Here's the schedule for Season 9.
