Spartacus War Of The Damned 'Mors Indecepta' Clips Focus On Laeta's Plight And Another Battle

Spoilers if you aren't caught up on Spartacus: War of the Damned through "Spoils of War."

With everything that's going on in Spartacus: War of the Damned, I sort of love that the series is taking the time to show the true horror of being enslaved from the perspective of a Roman. Last week's episode showed Laeta being traded to Heracleo, after which she was promptly branded and forced to kiss him. A painful and uncomfortable ordeal, to be sure, but it's really only a small taste of slavery by comparison to what some of the other rebels have been through. Torture, rape and being forced to brutally beat or kill each other probably ranks a bit higher on the awful-scale. Still, as the above clip from "Mors Indecepta" reminds us, Laeta's life has been turned upside down, first by her husband's murder and the attack on her city, and then by Crassus's choice to hand her over to a bunch of pirates. So her story certainly shines a new and interesting light on just how fast things can change for a person during this time period, and what it's like when the tables are turned for one character.

How will Laeta fit in among the rebels? Is she going to be able to adjust to life as a (freed) slave? Or will she be a burden to Spartacus and his people as they face the Romans yet again?

Speaking of which, that brings us to the next clip, which shows Spartacus' army facing the Romans. What are they waiting for?

Once again, Spartacus' experience with war proves useful here. It's one of the reasons this army benefits from his leadership.

The rebels and the Romans aren't fighting yet, but the promo for "Mors Indecepta" suggests that the swords will be flying soon enough. And that Crixus will have more to say on the matter.

Spartacus: War of the Damned airs Fridays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Starz.
