TNT Orders Up More Hawthorne And Memphis Beat

If you’re a fan of TNT’s Memphis Beat and/or Hawthorne, there’s good news! The network announced this week that they’ve given orders for another season for both shows!

TNT announced yesterday that they’ve given a ten-episode order for Hawthorne. The medical drama follows Christina Hawthorne, a Chief Nursing Officer who is trying to get her life together as well as to improve life at the hospital where she works. It stars Jada Pinkett Smith, who is also an executive producer on the show, which will return for its third season in 2011.

As for Memphis Beat, TNT made the announcement today, stating that they’ve ordered ten episodes for the second season, which is slated to return in 2011. MB stars Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl, Almost Famous), a Memphis police detective with a passion for blues as well as the city.

“MEMPHIS BEAT is a real treasure: a slightly off-center crime drama with great actors, memorable characters and a soundtrack steeped in Memphis sounds,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We look forward to another fantastic season next year.”

I see both of these shows as up-and-comers with definite potential to continue to build an audience, so this is definitely good news.
