Big Brother’s been on the air for over a week and tonight we got the very first live episode. Hooray! Since BB is doing the whole soul-mate twist thing this season, not one but two houseguests were evicted in tonight’s episode. And two houseguests scored the coveted Head of Household position.

I’ve been a bit behind on the feeds lately but thanks to YouTube (and the feed-watchers who are kind enough to upload all the juicy stuff), I wasn’t surprised to see the drama unfold between Amanda and the rest of the house. The full (uncensored) version of the fight can be viewed here: part 1 and part 2. Whether it’s because she checks herself out in the mirror all the time, gossips a lot, does more than her fair share of whining or because she’d rather massage Parker than her own partner, everyone seems to have a reason to dislike Amanda. Things came to a head outside by the Jacuzzi one night, giving Joshuah and Chelsia the opportunity to tell her off. Even Alex weighed in on how her behavior affects him in the game. The fight ended after Chelsia and Joshuah took things too far by bringing up her father’s suicide.

On to Jen and Ryan: Being on the block for eviction against your significant other can’t be an easy thing. Then again (and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, feed-watchers!), Ryan seemed to make it through the week without trash-talking his girlfriend in order to secure votes. Jen, on the other hand, just couldn’t help herself. She told Sheila that Ryan is racist. She later went on to mention that she once dated a black guy and Ryan was not happy when he found about it. Naturally, Sheila mentioned this to Ryan and Jen quickly tried to deny it. She then twisted it around, saying that while she never said he was racist, she did say that he didn’t approve of interracial relationships.

Here’s the thing that I found interesting. Ryan believed Allison and Sheila, even when Jen first tried to deny what she said. Considering they’ve been dating for nearly a year and he believes two people he’s known just over a week, that says a lot. So I’m thinking either this is an issue that’s come up before or he basically knows she would say something like that about him (which could damage his reputation and possibly his relationships with people outside the house).

Onto the live portion of the show:

With the whole team thing, the time it takes for votes to be cast and all that has been cut down significantly. Usually when you watch the live feeds, even though the houseguests aren’t allowed to say who they’re voting for, you can often get a good idea of who is being eliminated. Since I haven’t had time to stay up on the feeds, I had absolutely no idea how the votes were going to go down. Though I will say that I was pleased to see Ryan and Allison stay and Parker and Jen go. Nothing against Parker really but I wasn’t down with how Jen was playing the game and I think Ryan and Allison will stand a much better chance without her around.

Jen’s exit was tearful and Parker’s just seemed bitter. What was up with the drinks sitting by the door anyway? Whatever. Julie did her interview and showed Parker and Jen some of the taped goodbye messages. I’m not sure if it was worse for Jen to have to sit through Ryan’s sad goodbye message or hear Allison’s explanation of how she played the game poorly. Julie asked Jen if she regretted telling people about her relationship with Ryan, to which Jen responded that she wished they hadn’t told Allison. Parker seemed to bite his tongue throughout most of his portion of the interview with Julie and then it was on to the new HoH competition.

This week’s comp was one of those majority-rules competitions in which Julie asks questions and each houseguest (or team, in this case) selects the answer they think the majority of the other houseguests will choose. In this case, the questions pertained to things the houseguests would have to endure throughout the week. Like would they rather go without hot water or hot food. Strangely enough the majority of the teams went with hot water. Personally, I’d rather go a few days eating cold food than not be able to take a hot shower in the morning but that’s just me. Another question was whether the houseguests would rather go without drinking cups or eating utensils. The majority picked drinking cups. Again, not sure what thinking there. Julie made a joke about that later when the majority of the teams opted for a margarita party over a grill. How will they drink margaritas without cups?

Chelsia and James won HoH this week, which cant be a good thing for Alex and Amanda (considering how Chelsia made it very clear this week how she feels about her).

We’ll find out on Sunday who they nominated and hopefully see some of the repercussions of this week’s HoH competition. I’m also curious to see how Ryan and Allison play the game now that they’re not tied to Jen and Parker.
