Cat Deeley is adorable. Last night when she borrowed Twitch’s glasses and gold teeth bling, she once again proved that she was totally robbed of an Emmy nomination for the Outstanding Host of a Reality show. She’s just so much fun to watch and the fact that she’s ok putting one of the dancer's saliva-soaked grill into her mouth just shows what a great sport she is. But tonight isn’t about Cat. Tonight’s about the final six and which two will be sent packing this week.
Tonight after telling the dancers how hard it will be to be rejected in front of millions of people, Nigel cheered them up by telling them that each of them polled over a million votes. The show started off with a group number set to Bette Midler’s “The Rose” and choreographed by Mandy Moore. Once again, I found myself complaining out loud about the camera work. Sometimes I wish they’d just back off and let us see the full dance rather than following the dancers around the stage. I feel like we don’t get to see the full thing because we’re so busy being dragged around by the camera. A few more wide shots would’ve been nice. It was a beautiful dance though.
Tonight everyone had the chance to do solos before they found out who was eliminated. Since we’re down to the final six, I can think of no real criticisms for anyone. All six dancers are fantastic and deserve to be there but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I had my favorites. After seeing Katee and Joshua dancing together again last night, all I could think was, “I hope these two make it to the end.” We’ll see how the results go down.
Part of tonight’s filler involved an adorable little six-year-old doing break dancing. I have no idea how you’d even teach a kid that age how to do a one-hand-handstand or how to spin around on his head but this kid did it and credits his older brother for teaching him.
The results were drawn out over the course of the last 30 minutes or so of the episode. Of the girls, Katee was told she was safe and of the guys, Joshua, who got his braces off today, was also safe. Cat said that them being told they were safe first doesn’t mean they got the most votes but I’m hoping that’s the case anyway. Especially considering Joshua and Katee have avoided the bottom two week after week.
After a really weird performance by a woman with huge shoulder pads and a black light in her microphone, Courtney found out that she made it to the finale. Chelsie was eliminated. Chelsie’s beautiful and a fantastic dancer but I’m not disappointed with this season’s final two girls. Twitch and Mark took the stage to find out the results and after Twitch was in the bottom two last week added to Mark’s excellent performances last night, I thought maybe tonight was the end of the road for him but America wants more Twitch! Mark was eliminated and Twitch will join Joshua, Katee and Courtney in the finale.
So, America? If you had to vote now, who would you want to win this whole thing?
